Doorkeepers (2015) - paper and mixed media
For 'doorkeeper' my main thoughts came from the structure of a greek limestone that I found on the isle of Zakinthos. All limestone there has many hollow spaces, Inside them you see shiny salty crystals, the beauty hidden inside.
I often work together with the Ghent University. The work 'Empathy' is a result from that collaboration. 'Empathy' is actually the small naked chest of a dog. The reactions are very surprising, going from very empatic to disgust.

2016- 2017 : the skin-landscape project

Starting from the flesh and skin, I aim to come to an abstraction of the perishable bag in which we live. The art-science residency at the faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ghent (B) in 2016 provided me with a huge richness of skins to be touched, smelled and photographed.
The skin is seen as a separation between the inside of a body/object and the space around it, the skin itself being a shapeless organ. Being cut loose from the body it brings up a strange objectification with an unheimliches feeling and indefinable sense of misfortune. The full text of the working process and photos can be read, following the link below. (issuu)
